When I help ophthalmology practices around the country manage their social media presence, I come across the same obstacle. Practices are not making it a priority to promote their social media sites internally. Here are 3 reasons why I think letting patient’s know you’re on Facebook or Twitter is just as important as giving them your phone number or website address.
1) Numbers. There are over 1 billion Facebook users, 560 million Twitter users, 240 million LinkedIn users and 150 Instagram users.
2) Marketing. Television commercials, radio commercials and newspaper ads don’t have the same audience they use to. The popularity of DVRs, Internet/Satellite Radio and free online news outlets have really limited the places where a company can successfully use ads to market their product.
3) Referrals. Your happy patients who interact with your social media content will advertise your services to their friends and family members, helping your business grow.
I’m developing a series of web videos to help ophthalmology practices maneuver their way through the social media waters. Below is the first video with tips on creative ways to engage your patients while they are at your office.
